Michelle Wieland is the Socio-Economic Advisor for the WCS Africa Program, focusing on developing strategies with field staff and communities to address cross-cutting threats to wildlife in and around protected areas. One of these strategies is developing WCS’s From the Forest to the Fork approach, by engaging rural people on sustainable hunting, increasing access to domestic proteins in rural towns, and reducing demand for wildmeat demand in urban centres. Michelle is the WCS focal point for the WILDMEAT project, coordinating data collection teams’ inputs into the shared database.
