In June 2022, we hosted a Sustainable Hunting Symposium at the Society for Tropical Ecology Annual Conference in Montpellier 2022. This session focussed on the need for improved governance of hunting for wild meat. It explored evidence for the effectiveness of current interventions aiming to increase hunting sustainability, how we can best monitor progress towards sustainability and how policy and practice needs to change to move towards sustainable and equitable management of hunting. Our speakers were researchers, practitioners, and policy makers active in the region, most of them nationals of Central African countries, or permanent residents.
